The Best Owala Water Bottles on Amazon in 2026
Owala makes a lot of water bottles now, but the FreeSip is still the one most people are probably looking at first.
The real choice is mostly about size. The 24-ounce version is easy to carry, the 32-ounce gives you a little more room, and the 40-ounce makes more sense if you hate refilling your bottle all day. The Sway and Twist are more about how you carry and use them.
For this list, I stuck to five Owala bottles that are currently available on Amazon and actually give you a reason to choose one over another.

If you're buying your first Owala, this is one of the best Owala Water Bottles on Amazon
The 24-ounce FreeSip gives you the thing Owala is known for without turning the bottle into something you have to plan your day around. You can drink upright through the built-in straw or tilt it back and drink through the larger opening, and the push-button lid locks closed when you're carrying it around. Owala also says the insulated stainless-steel bottle keeps water cold for up to 24 hours.
The biggest advantage over the larger versions is just size. Food Network found the 24-ounce FreeSip easier to fit into a normal cup holder, while the 32- and 40-ounce standard FreeSips are wider.
That's why this is the one I'd recommend to the most people. It's big enough for work, school, the gym or a day out without feeling like you're carrying a jug.
The 32-ounce FreeSip is the middle ground.
You get the same FreeSip lid, locking carry loop and insulated stainless-steel construction as the 24-ounce version, but with another eight ounces before you need to refill it. Owala lists the 32-ounce bottle at about 10.66 inches tall with a 3.43-inch diameter.
I like this size for somebody who already knows 24 ounces isn't enough but doesn't really want a 40-ounce bottle hanging off their hand all day.
There is one tradeoff: the wider bottle may not work as well with standard automotive cup holders. That's one of the reasons I still prefer the 24-ounce FreeSip as the default choice.
There is nothing complicated about the reason to buy the 40-ounce FreeSip.
You don't want to keep refilling your bottle.
The 40-ounce model uses the same FreeSip drinking system and locking lid as the smaller bottles, but Owala lists it at 11.64 inches tall and 3.60 inches across. Recent Amazon coverage also shows the 40-ounce FreeSip remains one of the brand's heavily reviewed Amazon products.
This is also the one I'd personally look at for card shows, conventions or other all-day events. If you're behind a vendor table for eight hours, leaving every hour because your bottle is empty gets old fast.
The leakproof lid matters there too. I'm much more comfortable having a closed bottle near trading cards, electronics and inventory than an open tumbler with a straw sticking out of the top.
That's a niche use case, though. For everybody else, the selling point is simply that 40 ounces lasts longer.
The FreeSip Sway fixes one of the standard FreeSip's biggest compromises: carrying a larger bottle around.
Instead of the smaller loop built into the standard lid, the Sway has a much larger handle and is designed around easier everyday carrying. It still keeps Owala's sip-or-swig design and locking lid, while the narrower base is intended to work with most cup holders.
The 30-ounce version is the one I'd choose here. It gives you more capacity than the basic 24-ounce bottle without getting as bulky as a 40-ounce bottle.
Recent Amazon coverage has continued to list the FreeSip Sway for sale on Amazon in 2026, including the 30-ounce model.
If your bottle spends half its life moving between your house, car, office and gym, this design makes a lot of sense.
The FreeSip Twist is the one I'd buy if space matters more than maximum capacity.
It's slimmer than the regular FreeSip, uses a twist-on cap instead of the standard push-button flip lid and still keeps the built-in straw plus wide-mouth drinking option. The 24-ounce size is designed to fit more easily into backpacks, side pockets and cup holders.
There is another useful difference: Owala's standard FreeSip is intended for cold drinks, while the Twist is designed to handle hot and carbonated drinks as well.
NBC Select named the FreeSip Twist its best overall water bottle in its 2026 Wellness Awards, and the current model is sold on Amazon.
I'd pick this one for travel before the standard 24-ounce FreeSip because the narrower profile is easier to deal with when you're already trying to cram everything into one bag.
What Size Owala Should You Get?
For most people, I'd keep this simple.
Get the 24-ounce FreeSip if you want the easiest bottle to carry around.
Move to the 32-ounce FreeSip if you're constantly finishing 24 ounces too quickly.
Get the 40-ounce FreeSip if you care more about avoiding refills than keeping the bottle compact.
The Sway makes more sense if you want larger capacity but also care about the handle and cup-holder fit, while the Twist is the better choice if your priority is travel and fitting the bottle into smaller spaces.
That's really the whole decision.
