Edward.Newgate OP-17 Treasure Rare: Price Trends & Predictions

Well, that didn't take long.

The first tracked sale of the Edward.Newgate OP17-040 Treasure Rare from One Piece Card Game OP-17: The World's Strongest Warriors came in at nearly $200.

A couple of days later? Buyers were paying around $100.

The English OP-17 Treasure Rare gives us a younger version of Whitebeard from his Rocks Pirates days, and it has all the ingredients of a legitimate collector chase. But with the full English release still scheduled for August 28, 2026, anyone trying to put a permanent price tag on this card right now is getting way ahead of themselves.

What Is Edward.Newgate OP-17 Treasure Rare Worth Right Now?

Based on the limited English sales available so far, roughly $100 is the most defensible current value for a raw Edward.Newgate Treasure Rare.

PriceCharting currently lists the ungraded value at $100 and has tracked five completed sales:

Those are completed sales, not somebody listing the card for $250 and hoping Whitebeard himself shows up with a credit card. PriceCharting says its pricing is based on historical transactions where a buyer and seller actually agreed on a price.

That's the number I care about.

That $200 Price Disappeared Fast

The early trend is pretty obvious.

One copy sells for $199.99. The next sells for $110. Then three sales land between about $91 and $100.

That doesn't mean Edward.Newgate is destined to become a $100 card forever. Five sales are nowhere near enough data to establish a mature market.

It does tell us that $200 was probably an early-supply price, not an established market price.

We've seen this movie before. A new chase card appears, supply is almost nonexistent, somebody wants to be first, and suddenly everyone with a listing thinks they discovered buried treasure.

Then more cards show up and reality tends to follow.

Why Whitebeard Could Still Hold Collector Demand

Edward.Newgate isn't some random character who happened to get a premium treatment. He's Whitebeard, one of the most popular and important characters in One Piece, and OP-17 puts a major spotlight on the original Four Emperors and Rocks Pirates.

The card is also the English Treasure Rare treatment for OP-17, giving English-language collectors another reason to care about this particular version.

And Treasure Rares have shown that the name of the rarity doesn't determine the price by itself. Character popularity, artwork and collector demand can create enormous differences between cards carrying the same rarity label.

Whitebeard checks a lot of those boxes.

Will Edward.Newgate OP17-040 Drop After Release?

There is still more downward pressure coming.

Not because collectors suddenly won't want the card, but because the basic math changes on August 28. More boxes get opened, more copies hit TCGplayer and eBay, and prerelease scarcity starts disappearing.

That does not mean I'm predicting some specific $60 or $75 floor. We don't have enough data for that.

If completed sales continue clustering around $90 to $110 after release volume increases, that would be a much stronger sign that collectors are genuinely supporting the $100 level.

If sales start consistently moving below that range as supply grows, then the prerelease premium is still unwinding.

Either way, I would much rather watch what buyers actually pay than chase whatever number happens to be sitting at the top of a marketplace listing.

Should You Buy the Edward.Newgate Treasure Rare Now?

If you're asking whether $100 is the bottom, I don't know.

Nobody does.

OP-17 isn't even fully released yet.

If you're a Whitebeard collector who simply wants the card, that's a different calculation than somebody trying to perfectly time the market. But if your only reason for buying today is fear that the Treasure Rare is about to shoot back to $200, the early sales aren't giving us much evidence for that argument.

The first seller found a $200 buyer.

Everyone since has been finding something closer to $100.
