Pokémon 30th Anniversary RGB Mew: Is the 1-in-20,000 Rumor Real?

Well, things are getting interesting.

A mysterious RGB Mew has reportedly been pulled from early Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration packs, and collectors are now hearing claims that it could appear as rarely as once every 20,000 booster packs.

That would make it an absolutely ridiculous modern chase card.

But...Pokémon hasn't officially confirmed RGB Mew or that pull rate.

What Is The Pokémon RGB Mew?

The first reported card was a blue Mew marked B/RGB instead of carrying a normal collector number. Since then, red and green versions have reportedly surfaced as well, creating what appears to be a three-card set:

• R/RGB Mew

• G/RGB Mew

• B/RGB Mew

The cards are credited to artist YOSHIROTTEN, who Pokémon has officially confirmed as the artist behind the new Futuristic Rare Mew ex and Mewtwo ex in 30th Celebration.

That connection makes things particularly interesting.

YOSHIROTTEN already has an art project called PHENOMENON: RGB, built around color and light. Suddenly putting his name on mysterious red, green and blue Mew cards feels a little too perfect to ignore.

Is the 1-in-20,000 Pull Rate Real?

Maybe.

But don't write that number in permanent marker just yet.

The claim reportedly comes from information attributed to an employee of Millennium Print Group, which manufactures Pokémon cards. According to that report, RGB Mew could appear roughly once every 20,000 packs.

Neither The Pokémon Company nor Millennium Print Group has publicly confirmed those odds.

We also don't know whether that means one RGB card of any color per 20,000 packs or whether each individual color could be that rare.

At 1-in-20,000, we're talking about a 0.005% chance per pack.

Is RGB Mew Real?

At this point, I think the evidence is leaning toward yes, but I'm not ready to call it officially confirmed.

The original blue card reportedly came directly from an early booster opening. Additional colors have since appeared. The artist connection makes sense, and using Red, Green and Blue for Pokémon's 30th Anniversary would be an awfully appropriate nod to the franchise's original games.

Mew is also the perfect Pokémon for a secret card nobody was supposed to know existed.

Still, there are reasons for caution. Pokémon has not announced an RGB rarity, the cards use unusual numbering, and they were absent from the company's major 30th Celebration reveals.

So for now:

Likely real. Definitely fascinating. Still unconfirmed.

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration officially releases September 16, 2026, which means we'll soon have a lot more packs being opened and a lot more evidence to work with.
