Final Fantasy Artist Yoshitaka Amano Draws Loki & Shamrock for One Piece TCG OP-18 Alternate Arts

Why do these new One Piece Card Game cards look like they rode a Chocobo out of Final Fantasy?

There's a pretty good reason.

Legendary artist Yoshitaka Amano has created new artwork for Loki and Saint Figarland Shamrock, with both cards headed to OP-18: The Dominance of God in November 2026. Amano is one of the artists most closely associated with the Final Fantasy series, and his style is so recognizable that the connection is almost impossible to miss.

But, this is not a Final Fantasy crossover.

No Cloud. No Sephiroth. No Aerith being resurrected somewhere in Elbaph.

These are One Piece characters illustrated by an artist whose work helped define the visual identity of Final Fantasy. And if Bandai was looking for a way to make collectors pay attention to OP-18, mission accomplished.

Yoshitaka Amano Is a Pretty Big Deal for TCG Collectors

Calling Amano a Final Fantasy legend is an understatement.

His work spans decades, and trading card collectors have seen what happens when his distinctive art lands on cardboard before. One of the best examples is Liliana, Dreadhorde General, which received an Amano-illustrated Japanese alternate art for Magic: The Gathering's War of the Spark. Wizards of the Coast called that project a "dream collaboration."

Now he's drawing One Piece.

That's a sentence I didn't expect to be writing today.

The OP-18 artwork features Loki and Saint Figarland Shamrock, two characters who already have plenty of collector appeal without Amano's name attached. His wispy lines, fantasy-heavy character design and almost dreamlike style make both cards look completely different from most of the One Piece Card Game.

And yes, the Final Fantasy vibes are strong.

Loki and Shamrock Each Get Two Amano Treatments

Here's where things get even more interesting.

Current Japanese OP-18 card information says Amano's Loki and Shamrock artwork will each appear in two premium versions:

• A regular parallel

• A Gold Foil Parallel Version

That means we're looking at four Amano chase cards built from two original illustrations.

The distinction matters. These aren't four completely different Amano paintings. Each character has one Amano illustration appearing with two different treatments.

And if that Gold Foil Parallel Version ends up being significantly harder to pull?

Well, collectors can probably see where this is going.

We don't know the pull rates yet, though, and we're not going to invent them. Until Bandai gives us more information or enough product gets opened to establish reliable odds, any claims about how scarce these cards will be are guesswork.

Saint Figarland Shamrock Is a New OP-18 Secret Rare

Shamrock is OP18-119, a new black Secret Rare Character in The Dominance of God.

The base card is an 8-cost, 9,000-power Character with the Celestial Dragon and Knights of God traits. His effect gives him the ability to return from the trash after being K.O.'d and potentially bring another Knights of God Character with him.

There may eventually be plenty to talk about from a gameplay perspective.

But come on.

If you're staring at the Amano version of Shamrock right now, you're probably not thinking about optimal trash recursion.

You're thinking about putting it in a slab.

Loki Is Actually an OP-17 Card Reprinted in OP-18

Now we get to the weird part.

Look closely at the Amano Loki and you'll see OP17-119 printed on the card.

That's not a typo.

Loki OP17-119 is the black Secret Rare originally released in OP-17: The World's Strongest Warriors. The card is a 6-cost, 8,000-power Giant/Elbaph Character, and OP-18 is bringing that existing card back with Amano's new artwork.

So despite pulling the new Amano Loki from an OP-18 product, the underlying card is still OP17-119.

Trading card games are fun like that.

That reprint angle might actually make Loki more interesting to collectors. OP17-119 already has its original printing and alternate art, and now the same card number is receiving two completely different Amano treatments in the following set.

Completionists, I'm sorry.

OP-18 Is Starting to Look Dangerous for Collectors

We were already watching OP-18 after Nico Robin finally received her first Manga Rare-style Super Parallel and Franky was revealed as a Leader for the first time.

Now add two characters illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano, with regular and Gold Foil Parallel treatments.

OP-18 is beginning to feel less like another booster set and more like Bandai asking collectors how attached they really are to their money.

The set is currently scheduled for a worldwide November 2026 release, with Water 7 and the Knights of God among its major themes.

We still don't know the Amano pull rates, English market prices or exactly how difficult those stamped parallels will be to find.

That's fine.

We already know enough to say this much: Yoshitaka Amano drawing One Piece cards is one of the coolest collector reveals we've seen for OP-18 so far.

And somehow, Bandai just started revealing this set.
