MTG Reality Fracture Product Delays Expanded: What’s Affected by Region

Reality Fracture is still scheduled to begin Prerelease on September 25 and release worldwide on October 2, but some of the products players expected to buy around launch may not arrive on time.

Wizards of the Coast updated its Reality Fracture delay notice on September 17, adding new impacts in North America, Japan and Latin America on top of previously announced delays elsewhere. The important part is that this is not a blanket delay for the set. What’s affected depends on where you live and which product you’re trying to buy.

What Reality Fracture Products Are Delayed in North America?

For U.S. and Canadian players, the September 17 update adds two products to watch.

Reality Fracture Bundles are delayed and may arrive after the October 2 release. Omega Collector Boosters are also delayed. Those are the individual Collector Booster packs generally sold through larger retailers rather than full Collector Booster displays.

That distinction matters. Wizards has not announced that every North American Collector Booster product is delayed.

Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs also remain scheduled, but there is a separate supply issue hanging over Play Boosters.

Are Reality Fracture Play Boosters Delayed?

Not exactly.

Wizards says Reality Fracture Play Boosters should still be available for Prerelease and release weekend, including in North America. The problem could come shortly afterward.

A portion of the Play Boosters headed to North America became caught in shipping congestion around the Panama Canal after drought conditions lowered water levels. Wizards said most stores and players probably won’t notice much of a problem during Prerelease or release weekend, but supply could dry up quickly afterward before another shipment arrives. The company currently expects replenishment within a few weeks.

So if you’re planning to play at Prerelease on September 25, there’s currently no reason to assume your event won’t have product.

If you’re planning to buy several Play Booster boxes a week or two after release, that’s where availability could get more interesting.

Reality Fracture Commander Decks Are Delayed in Some Regions

The Multiverse Reforged Commander deck is also caught in the delays, but not in North America.

Asia-Pacific customers could see Reality Fracture Commander decks arrive after the October 2 release, while Japanese customers may see them arrive after Prerelease weekend. Japan is also facing delays for Foundations Commander decks.

The North American Multiverse Reforged deck is currently listed as on schedule. Wizards’ official decklist confirms the precon contains 100 cards, including Jace, Multiverse Architect, Nissa, Leyline Tamer and the new Reality Fracture legends.

Collector Booster Delays Depend Heavily on Region

Collector Boosters have the messiest availability picture.

In Asia-Pacific, Collector Boosters may arrive after release. In Europe, the Middle East and Africa, they’re delayed and Wizards specifically warns that supply will be tight around launch. In Japan, Collector Boosters may not arrive until after Prerelease events.

North America is different. The announced delay applies to Omega Collector Boosters, the individual Collector Booster packs sold at larger retailers. Wizards currently lists other Collector Booster products there as on schedule.

That could become especially important because Collector Boosters are where Reality Fracture puts many of its premium treatments and collector-focused cards. Wizards lists the standalone Collector Booster at an MSRP of $26.99.

Is Reality Fracture Prerelease Still September 25?

Yes.

Reality Fracture Prerelease still begins September 25, with events running through October 1. The worldwide tabletop release remains October 2.

Each Prerelease Pack contains six Reality Fracture Play Boosters, a traditional foil promo card, a deck box and a Spindown die. Those Prerelease Packs remain on schedule in every region according to Wizards.

That means the delays shouldn’t stop most players from actually playing Reality Fracture at Prerelease.

Buying every product you planned to take home that weekend may be a different story.

Should You Worry About Reality Fracture Selling Out?

I wouldn’t treat these delays as proof that Reality Fracture is facing a long-term shortage.

Wizards is describing production and shipping delays, and the North American Play Booster problem is expected to be temporary. The company also says the situation is changing as its logistics teams work on delivery timelines.

But if you specifically want a Bundle, Collector Booster product or Multiverse Reforged Commander deck in one of the affected regions, it makes sense to check with the store holding your preorder instead of assuming everything will be there on day one.

Reality Fracture itself isn’t delayed.
