With OP-17: The World's Strongest Warriors, Bandai is taking that concept even further.

During the official reveal, the One Piece Card Game team unveiled the game's first-ever Super Leader Parallel featuring Monkey D. Luffy, alongside stunning Super Parallel cards celebrating the original Four Emperors. While Bandai officially calls the new rarity the Super Leader Parallel, collectors have already begun referring to Luffy as the game's first "Manga Leader."

The Biggest Chase Card Isn't a Manga Rare

Near the end of the official OP-17 presentation, producer Shun introduced a special version of Monkey D. Luffy's Leader card unlike anything collectors have seen before.

Its official name is the Super Leader Parallel.

The card features: original manga artwork, premium gold foiling, special textured finish, a manga-inspired background and is the first Leader card ever to receive this treatment

Leader cards have always been the centerpiece of every One Piece Card Game deck. Every match begins with one. Yet until now, Bandai reserved its highest-profile collector treatments for Character cards, and OP-17 changes that.

Is "Manga Leader" the Official Name?

No. This is one of the biggest misconceptions surrounding OP-17.

During the reveal, Bandai clearly identified Luffy's new rarity as the Super Leader Parallel.

Collectors quickly noticed that the card combines original manga artwork with a premium Leader card treatment. Since Manga Rares are already the most recognizable chase cards in the hobby, many fans naturally started calling Luffy the first Manga Leader.

"Manga Leader" is a useful nickname, but it's important to remember that it's community-created rather than Bandai's official terminology.

Luffy isn't the only premium card stealing the spotlight.

Edward Newgate (Whitebeard)

Edward Newgate (Whitebeard) OP17-005 Super Parallel celebrates one of the original Four Emperors with stunning premium artwork in One Piece Card Game OP-17: The World's Strongest Warriors.

Whitebeard's Super Parallel celebrates one of the greatest pirates in One Piece history.

His inclusion feels fitting for a set centered around the legendary Four Emperors.

Kaido immediately stood out during the official presentation thanks to both his gameplay reveal and premium artwork.
