Mew ex 158/128: Pokémon 30th Celebration Futuristic Rare Explained
Mew ex 158/128 is one of the first Futuristic Rare cards in Pokémon TCG history.
The new rarity debuts with Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration, and Pokémon selected Mew and Mewtwo to introduce it. Both cards feature artwork by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN.
For collectors, that gives Mew ex 158/128 a little more significance than the average secret rare. It is tied directly to the debut of a new Pokémon TCG rarity in the franchise's 30th anniversary set.

What Is a Futuristic Rare?
Futuristic Rare is a new rarity introduced with 30th Celebration.
Pokémon revealed Mew and Mewtwo as the first cards representing the new treatment, with YOSHIROTTEN illustrating both. The Futuristic Rare concept fits the larger theme of 30th Celebration, which looks backward at three decades of Pokémon TCG history while also introducing something new.
Mew ex 158/128 is the Futuristic Rare version of Mew ex. The card also has a regular version featuring artwork by aky CG Works, while the Futuristic Rare uses YOSHIROTTEN's artwork.
What Does Mew ex 158/128 Do?
Mew ex has 160 HP and the Ability Memory Helix.
Memory Helix allows Mew ex to use the attacks of any Pokémon on your Bench. There is one important catch: you still need the Energy required to use the attack.
That gives Mew considerably more flexibility than its 160 HP might suggest. Instead of being locked into its own attack, it can potentially use whatever options you have sitting on the Bench.
Its own attack, Teleportation Burst, deals 30 damage for one Psychic Energy and lets you switch Mew ex with one of your Benched Pokémon.
There is also a fun bit of Pokémon TCG history here. Teleportation Burst originally appeared on Rota's Mew, a Japanese card associated with Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.
Mew ex 158/128 vs. Mewtwo ex 157/128
Mew and Mewtwo are the two cards Pokémon chose to introduce Futuristic Rare.
Mewtwo has the larger HP total and is a more straightforward attacker. Mew is the stranger card mechanically because Memory Helix lets it borrow attacks from your Bench.
From a collecting standpoint, I would treat the two as natural companion cards. They share the same new rarity, artist, set, and adjacent collector numbers.
How Rare Is Mew ex 158/128 Futuristic Rare?
We don't know yet.
Pokémon has confirmed Futuristic Rare as a new rarity, but it has not published a pull rate for Mew ex 158/128 or Futuristic Rares generally. The set has not released yet, so there also isn't enough legitimate opening data to calculate a reliable rate.
Any exact pull-rate claim right now would be speculation.
How Much Is Mew ex 158/128 Worth?
There is no reliable market price yet.
30th Celebration does not release until September 16, and the small number of presale listings currently appearing online are not enough to establish what collectors will actually pay once packs are widely available.

Can You Pull Mew ex 158/128 From 30th Celebration Booster Packs?
Mew ex 158/128 is part of the 30th Celebration expansion, rather than a product-exclusive promo. Pokémon introduced the Mew and Mewtwo Futuristic Rares as cards from the expansion itself.
There is also a separate Mew & Mewtwo Figure Collection scheduled for November 6, but its included Mew or Mewtwo promo card should not be confused with Mew ex 158/128.
For now, the biggest reason to watch Mew ex 158/128 is simple: it is one of the cards launching an entirely new Pokémon TCG rarity.
Whether it also becomes one of 30th Celebration's biggest chase cards will become much clearer once collectors can actually start opening packs.
