Pokémon’s 30th Celebration lineup has no shortage of ways to buy booster packs, but the Sylveon ex and Greninja ex Boxes are among the simplest.
The Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Sylveon ex and Greninja ex Boxes release September 16, 2026. Each includes four 30th Celebration booster packs, one foil promo featuring Sylveon ex or Greninja ex, and one matching oversize foil card.
Best Buy currently lists the assorted Sylveon ex or Greninja ex Box for $21.99, while Target lists the individual versions for $29.99.

What Comes in the 30th Celebration ex Box?
Both versions contain exactly the same type of product:
1 foil promo card featuring Sylveon ex or Greninja ex
1 matching foil oversize card
4 Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration booster packs
There are no sleeves, dice, binders, or other accessories here. You are basically buying four packs and a character-specific promo package.
The packs themselves are unusual. Pokémon has confirmed that every card in 30th Celebration is foil, including Basic Energy, and each booster contains one of the expansion’s 30 Pikachu cards.

What Are the Sylveon ex and Greninja ex Promos?
The box versions are Sylveon ex MEP 100 and Greninja ex MEP 099.
Both Pokémon also have regular cards in the 30th Celebration set, but the MEP cards are separate Black Star Promo prints. Greninja ex MEP 099 is documented as the alternate promotional print included in the September Greninja ex Box, along with an oversize version. The same distribution applies to Sylveon ex MEP 100.
That matters for collectors. Pulling a regular Sylveon ex or Greninja ex from a booster does not replace the MEP promo if you are trying to collect every version.
Are the Promos Exclusive to These Boxes?
This is where I would be careful about paying a large premium.
Based on the currently documented product lineup, the standard-size MEP promos do not appear to be exclusive to the September boxes. Bulbapedia lists both Sylveon ex MEP 100 and Greninja ex MEP 099 as returning in 30th Celebration Pokémon ex Tins beginning December 4, 2026.
Target has also listed December-style Sylveon or Greninja 30th Celebration tins containing a foil promo featuring one of the two Pokémon.
The September box is still notable for the matching jumbo card, but if your only goal is getting the standard-size promo, there appears to be another opportunity coming.
That makes inflated presale prices much harder to justify.
How Much Should the Sylveon ex and Greninja ex Boxes Cost?
There is already a noticeable retail spread.
Best Buy lists its assorted Sylveon or Greninja box for $21.99. Target currently lists the individual Sylveon and Greninja boxes for $29.99.
At $21.99, four packs work out to about $5.50 per booster before assigning any value to the promo or jumbo card.
I like that price.
At $29.99, I would need to specifically want the promo.
Once presale hype pushes the price much higher than that, I am out. You are still buying four packs, one promo, and one jumbo card, and the standard-size promo currently appears to have another release coming in December.
Is This the Best Way to Buy 30th Celebration Packs?
No.
Best Buy lists the 30th Celebration Booster Bundle at $26.94 for six packs, or about $4.49 per pack, when it releases October 2.
If your main goal is simply to open as many 30th Celebration packs as possible for your money, the Booster Bundle makes more sense at those prices. If you specifically want Sylveon or Greninja and the jumbo card, the ex Box becomes much easier to justify.
Should You Buy Sylveon ex or Greninja ex?
Whichever Pokémon you like more.
There is no meaningful product-value difference to manufacture here. Both boxes contain four packs, a promo, and a matching jumbo.
Sylveon has the obvious Eeveelution collector appeal. Greninja has a massive fan base of its own. I would not use early presale pricing to declare either one the better investment.
Buy Sylveon if you want Sylveon. Buy Greninja if you want Greninja.
Are the 30th Celebration ex Boxes Worth Buying?
At $21.99, I think so.
Four anniversary packs plus a promo and jumbo card is a reasonable package for collectors who actually want one of these Pokémon. At $29.99, it becomes a more personal decision. At heavily inflated presale prices, there are simply too many other 30th Celebration products coming to justify chasing one of these boxes out of fear.
The Sylveon ex and Greninja ex Boxes make the most sense for what they actually are: affordable character boxes with four 30th Celebration packs and a promo you genuinely want.
